Seminar: Tradeoffs Between Performance and Capacity Savings in Data De-duplication

Speaker

Stephanie Jones

Abstract

Data de-duplication is becoming increasingly important in corporations to help maximize storage space. While data de-duplication allows for disk space maximization, it can cause fragmentation that leads to poor read performance. This talk will discuss a possible technique that decreases the amount of de-duplicated data which may lead to decreased fragmentation and improve sequential read performance.
